counselling & psychotherapy

Sarah Plumb Conselling

Life can feel overwhelming and we can face difficult challenges at times. Counselling provides a confidential, non-judgemental environment for you to make sense of these difficult and challenging experiences and provides a safe space to process your thoughts and feelings.

Therapy is not about giving advice, or fixing your problems. I will work with you to help you understand your patterns of behaviour to develop self-awareness, which may lead you to decide to make changes in your life which could have a positive impact on your happiness and wellbeing.

My approach is integrative, drawing on different theoretical models to underpin the work we do together. The therapeutic relationship is paramount to the work being effective so I will spend time listening to your experience and understanding your emotions surrounding it. This is your space to talk freely and openly without any judgement and I am here to facilitate you finding your own answers to living a more fulfilled life.

I trained as a counsellor after personally experiencing the positive impact therapy had on my life. I am a qualified integrative therapeutic counsellor and a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists), which provides an Ethical Framework to inform my practice to ensure I am working safely and within the best interests of my clients.

I have experience of working with both adults and young people and offer online, face to face and outdoor therapy. Online sessions take place via zoom and face to face sessions are in a private room within my home in Milton Keynes. I have worked with many issues including childhood trauma, bereavement, anxiety, school refusal, depression, self-harm, retirement & relationship issues.

Counselling and psychotherapy

I enjoy being outdoors and find nature therapeutic in itself – spending my spare time walking, cycling or paddle-boarding. Recognising the benefits of exercise and the outdoors, led me to offering outdoor therapy to my clients. The talking therapy is the same and we work together to establish a contract to ensure confidentiality is not compromised being outdoors. Walking and talking can sometimes feel more manageable for clients than sitting face to face in a room.

Everyone is individual and I offer a free 30 minutes session in my therapy room to chat about your goals from therapy and identify which method would work best for you. It can take time to find the right therapist and it is important you feel comfortable talking to me. This session is an opportunity for us to decide if we would like to work together or not.

Sessions are charged at £40 per hour, payable by bank transfer 24hrs before the session takes place.
